We are excited to welcome you and your student to LMU’s dynamic academic community. The support and guidance you have provided will always be instrumental to your student’s success, and we want you to have the information you need to continue supporting your student in transition to LMU. As your student transitions life at LMU, Parent & Family Programs provides support, guidance, and information about the resources and services students can utilize throughout their time as an LMU Lion.
New Student Move-in Information
New students living in LMU Housing will be able to move-in prior to Orientation on Thursday, January 9, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Visit the LMU Housing website to learn more about university housing options and the housing application process.
Spring Welcome Weekend: LMU vs. Gonzaga
Parents and family members of new students are invited to attend the LMU vs. Gonzaga men’s basketball game on Saturday, January 11 at 1:00 p.m. Admission to the game is free for new LMU students with their LMU OneCard; parents and family members must purchase tickets in advance. This exciting match-up offers a glimpse of LMU’s school spirit as the men’s basketball team faces off against a long-time rival. Use the code “ORIENTATIONGUEST” to access a special block of tickets for family members of new students.
New Student Orientation
Parents and family members are encouraged to attend a one-day Orientation event with their student on LMU’s Westchester campus on Friday, January 10, 2020.
Thursday, January 9
9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. | New Student Move-in
- New students living in LMU Housing may plan to move-in on Thursday, January 9. Housing check-in will take place at the Student Housing Office in Leavey 6. Students should upload a OneCard photo to the MyPhoto portal by December 13, 2019 in order to pick-up their OneCard at the LMU Housing Office.
Friday, January 10
8:30 a.m.–10:00 a.m. | Check-in & Campus Tours | Lawton Plaza
- Check-in for Orientation, enjoy a light continental breakfast, and mingle with LMU student leaders. Students and their guests are invited to participate in a 45 minute, student-led walking tour of the LMU campus. Tours will depart at 8:45 a.m., 9:00 a.m. & 9:15 a.m. International students will also complete SEVIS registration during this time.

Celebrate the start of your student's academic journey! This is the official university welcome for new students from LMU's faculty and leadership.
11:00 a.m.–12:15 p.m. | Orientation Sessions
Learn what you can expect as your student starts their journey at LMU.

Enjoy lunch with parents and family members attending Orientation.

Join fellow parents and family members for a closing reception, where you can celebrate your student's academic journey and enjoy a glass of wine.
Saturday, January 11
1:00 p.m.–3:00 p.m. | LMU vs. Gonzaga (Men's Basketball)
In this annual match-up, LMU faces off against long-time rival, Gonzaga. Be a part of the action in Gersten Pavilion and cheer on the men’s basketball team! Parents and family members of new students may attend but must purchase tickets in advance through LMU Athletics. These tickets provide seating in a special section reserved for family members and guests of new students--separate from the student section, where students will be seated. New students are admitted free of charge by showing their LMU OneCard but must reserve a ticket in advance, using their student ID number as the passcode.
